AN AMICABLE APPROACH TO DIVORCE

No one wants to go through a divorce process that is more painful than it needs to be. Traditionally, divorce has been seen as a contentious, expensive and time-consuming public battle. But it does not need to be that way. Mediation can provide a much better approach to the divorce process.

If you are facing a divorce, I can help you utilize the mediation process to reach your goals with a minimum of stress, time and cost. I am Allison Wheeler, family law lawyer with a wealth of experience helping people just like you in the mediation process throughout the Indianapolis, Indiana, area.

HOW THE MEDIATION PROCESS WORKS

In mediation, both parties come together to negotiate the terms for the various aspects of their divorce. This can involve division of assets, parenting plans, child support, spousal support and other relevant issues.

Both parties should retain their own legal representation, and a neutral mediator facilitates the negotiations. Mediation really only works well when both divorcing parties are willing to work with the process openly.

I have the knowledge and experience to work with you through the mediation process to protect your interests and make sure you get the best outcome possible.

THE BENEFITS OF MEDIATION

Mediation provides numerous benefits over traditional divorce litigation:

  • More amicable: While litigation involves a contentious courtroom battle, mediation involves peaceful negotiations.
  • More private: Litigation happens in a public courtroom; mediation takes place behind closed doors in a private setting.
  • Faster and less expensive: In most cases, mediation takes less time and costs less than courtroom litigation.

I take a personalized approach to my clients’ cases. I will walk you through every step of the mediation process, protecting your rights and making sure you know what to expect.
